Biography

Jason M. Sneed founded SNEED PLLC in 2011 with the aim of providing focused expertise in trademark and copyright law to clients at an exceptional value. In the more than nine years since the firm's founding, he has developed a team of highly capable professionals that serve all aspects of clients' legal needs in intellectual property work excluding patent prosecution. The firm offers clients a holistic approach to brand protection and intellectual property protection that considers the company's ability to protect and enforce a brand from the time of its creation and initial prosecution through its entire life cycle.

Jason Sneed has represented clients for over 20 years in protecting and enforcing their trademark rights, through inter partes proceedings at the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, domain name arbitration proceedings, and in federal court litigation in approximately 20 states, including as first chair jury trial counsel.  He has been recognized for excellence in trademark law and intellectual property litigation by Best Lawyers®, including as “2016 Charlotte Trademark Lawyer of the Year” and “2017 North Carolina Trademark Lawyer of the Year,” and by North Carolina Legal Elite™, IP Stars® and Super Lawyers.  Clients and peers have recognized SNEED PLLC as a Tier 1 firm for trademarks and intellectual property litigation by Best Law Firms®.  One of the most satisfying aspects of trademark practice to Mr. Sneed is that wins are not always measured in dollars and cents; expanding a company’s brand through strategic protection or fending off a threat to the company’s goodwill through targeted and efficient enforcement may be the most valuable outcome to the trademark owner.

Mr. Sneed graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1997 and from Texas Christian University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Before forming SNEED PLLC in 2011, he practiced law with national law firms in Kansas and North Carolina, including at Alston & Bird LLP where he was a partner and served as the firm’s Charlotte trademark and copyright group leader.  He is active in the International Trademark Association, including on its Programming Advisory Council (2017-20), and the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy, and he has served in leadership capacities in both organizations.
